Recently, the Court Services Office reported that individuals involved in bankruptcy cases have received phone calls from numbers that appear to be from the local bankruptcy court. This practice, known as “spoofing,” involves scammers pretending to represent the court and requesting installment payments through Zelle. Similar incidents have been noted by other courts.
Officials emphasized that the Bankruptcy Court does not call debtors to request payments over the phone.
