Chief Judge David M. Warren entered an administrative order on April 21, 2026, that restricts electronic access to sealed documents in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
The change affects how parties can view and serve sealed documents. Sealed documents will still be filed in the court’s Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system under current procedures, but they will no longer be accessible or viewable electronically.
Parties who have a right to access a sealed document may request a paper copy by contacting the Clerk’s Office. Because these documents are not available electronically, service through CM/ECF is no longer possible. Instead, parties must serve sealed documents by other means allowed under the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure or as directed by the court.
The court itself will serve and notice sealed documents in paper form via mail. The administrative order takes effect immediately.
