A man from Forsyth County, North Carolina, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. The sentencing took place in Greensboro, announced United States Attorney Dan Bishop of the Middle District of North Carolina.

Angelo Addie Reid, VI, 23, received a sentence of 150 months’ imprisonment and three years of post-release supervision. The sentence was issued by Chief/Senior United States District Judge Catherine C. Eagles at the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.

Court records indicate that on August 14, 2024, Reid and his girlfriend were at Hanes Mall Shopping Center in Winston-Salem when an altercation occurred with another individual. Reid drew a gun and fired at the other person; the shot missed and struck a nearby store occupied by employees and customers. The targeted individual fled toward the mall exit with Reid pursuing him. Once outside, Reid shot the man in the back, injuring his spine. As the victim lay on the ground, Reid approached and struck him multiple times with the firearm before fleeing with his girlfriend to a nearby hotel where they were later found by authorities. At the time of this incident, Reid was already under post-release supervision for another offense.

Reid pleaded guilty on July 8, 2025, to one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm under federal law.

The Winston-Salem Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives conducted the investigation. Special Assistant United States Attorney Lauren Martin prosecuted the case.
